SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL & MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT ASSISTANT
8:30 am – 3:45 pm (36 hours per week) term-time contract
Salary £19,978 - £26,052 FTE

We are looking to employ an effective Learning Support Assistant with experience in supporting the development of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) provision, to join our fabulous team. Support will primarily be for children with SEMH needs and may be in a small group provision, for individual children and in the classroom environment. The role will also include support for colleagues.
We would like someone who is interested in improving the life chances for children. You will need patience, resourcefulness, empathy and high expectations of behaviour. You must be enthusiastic for learning, have good communication skills and passionate about providing the best for children and discovering what motivates them.
The successful candidate will have:
- A good understanding of the Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs of children who may display anxiety through their behaviour
- A proven track record of supporting children with SEMH needs
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- A strong understanding of children on the autistic spectrum
- Ability to prioritise work and support children and staff across the academy
- Ability to advise and develop colleagues
- Ability to work with parents empathetically and gain their trust
- An understanding of the values and ethos of the Kite Academy Trust
- Good organisational skills and accurate record keeping
